Bandwidth Monitor
also offers useful built-in utilities: speeds stopwatch, transfer rates recorder, and bandwidth usage notification. And, the software supports running as a system service that monitors bandwidth usages and generate traffic reports automatically without log on.

Bandwidth Monitor works with the majority network connections including modem, ISDN, DSL, ADSL, cable modem, Ethernet cards, wireless, VPN, and more. It's fully compatible with Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, and Windows Vista.

Sol22 Summary

I have tested quite a few broadband monitors and this one has to be the best I've tested. It costs nothing and works in the background so you don't notice it running. An interesting feature of this is its download alarm. A sound fires up when you hit your pre-set download limit. This is great if you are using a limited broadband package and your downloads are capped at a particular level. Don't forget if you have a capped broadband service its the usage that is capped and not just the files that you are downloading. You use up bandwidth just by surfing the net!

They offer a free download for a 30 days trial then you can buy it for around $20. And well worth it I think.
